I’ve mentioned Slings & Arrows before on this blog, and for good reason. It’s one of those shows that entertains while simultaneously being incredibly smart and often touching. In my opinion, some of the best moments come from when Geoffrey Tennant, Artistic Director and resident Crazy Person (literally – he was in an asylum for a while. Long story) is directing.

This clip is one of the best examples of a moment that goes from funny to fascinating to breathtaking to funny again:

To be fair to Claire, it really isn’t easy to play madness if you’ve never experienced it. Using sense memory of being stoned isn’t the worst idea in the world, it just doesn’t work for Ophelia. At all. There are plenty of other characters where that would work, trust me. Let’s just cast her in those.

Actually, I forgot momentarily how awful she is in pretty much everything she does…never mind. Let’s not cast her at all.
