365 Days of Shakespeare

That's right – the Bard in a year.

Remember the movie Shakespeare in Love, where at the end we see our heroine slowly walking up a beach toward a brave new world, bringing to life the opening scene of Twelfth Night, making all Shakespeare nerds everywhere positively giddy?

It’s this shot:

Pretty, right? Well, now it looks more like this:

By the way, all those starfish are dead.

It turns out that Holkham Beach, which was used for that gorgeous ending shot of Shakespeare in Love, is suffering from an epidemic of dead starfish. They have been washed up on the beach with the tide while feeding and stranded, only able to survive for a couple of hours out of the water like that.

It’s such a shame! Starfish are so cool. It makes me sad to see them like that.

Hopefully this is a one-time occurrence and we won’t see droves of seahorses washed up next week.
