365 Days of Shakespeare

That's right – the Bard in a year.

61. Again, if you don’t watch “Slings & Arrows”…

One episode of Slings & Arrows featured an attempt to teach business leadership by hosting a workshop for a large group of busy thirtysomethings in suits. Not exactly a great job for Geoffrey Tennant, the guy who once did this:

Now, I am of the school of thought that you can learn just about anything from Shakespeare. In the show, it didn’t exactly leave the people taking the workshop with a renewed sense of empowerment (except for one guy who was awesome). But this London workshop sounds more like what they were going for.

Directing a play is one of the best examples of leadership out there, so why not use theatre, especially Shakespeare which requires so much interpretation and painstaking analysis, to help build your skills? I think it’s a fantastic idea. I’d like to see more workshops like this take place!
