365 Days of Shakespeare

That's right – the Bard in a year.

55. Hey, Germany: stop trying to ruin Shakespeare for me.

Germany is trying to make me sad.

Kurt Kreiler, author of The Man Who Invented Shakespeare which has had some acclaim in Germany, is stating that Shakespeare’s plays were actually authored by Edward de Vere.

Okay, it’s not exactly a new theory, and there are plenty of scholars who are saying that we really ought to take this theory seriously. But I really hope it’s just that: a theory. I like my idea of Shakespeare too much to be willing to part with it just yet.

Besides, just because your nickname is “spear-shaker” doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll choose some Pig Latin-ish version of that as your pen name, right?

I just know that when the English translation comes out I’m going to be buried in all 595 pages of it…
